About Abramovich & Tchern, Immigration Lawyers

About Us

We are Canadian immigration lawyers in Toronto who believe your immigration application deserves dedicated, focused advocacy. We provide a full range of corporate and individual immigration services, from student visas, provincial nominations, Express Entry and spousal sponsorships to political refugee claims, inadmissibility issues, visa rejections, and judicial reviews.

Our advocacy focus and litigation capability means that we can support our clients through every stage of even the most challenging immigration cases. It also means we approach routine immigration applications with litigators’ eyes. We think of everything that might go wrong, so you don’t have to.

Persuasive advocacy matters.

Our multicultural, multilingual immigration team has experience in working with business, professional, student, family and individual immigrants from India, Latin America, the former USSR republics, and around the world. We also work with international and Canadian businesses on strategy and compliance issues related to foreign workers, recruitment strategies, and employee immigration.

Need help with Canadian and cross-border immigration issues? Challenging a visa rejection? Have questions about Express Entry, CRS Calculator, provincial nominee programs, and your options for permanent residency? Confused about student visa requirements in Canada? Out of status and out of options?

We’re here to help, every step of the way.

Lev Abramovich

Partner

A founding partner of Abramovich & Tchern and a skilled litigator, Lev focuses exclusively on immigration and refugee law. His practice is focused on immigration litigation, personal immigration, and refugee law matters.

Lev has successfully represented clients at all levels of Ontario Courts. He routinely appears before the Federal Court and divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada with respect to judicial reviews, appeals, inadmissibility-related issues, and other immigration cases.

Lev knows nobody wants to go to court. He takes pride in being able to see the big picture and anticipate issues before they arise. His goal is to achieve his immigration clients’ goals without litigation. But, when issues become contentious, he’s the immigration advocate you need.

This litigation lens means that when Lev assists businesses and individuals with their routine immigration needs, he crafts persuasive cases that anticipate challenges and take into account how adjudicators and immigration decision-makers think.

When he’s not helping his clients solve their immigration problems, Lev serves as a director for a Canadian-based technology recruitment firm, helping Canadian employers hire top international technology talent.

Lev obtained his LL.B at the University of Windsor, after obtaining a Bachelor of Philosophy from the University of Windsor. During law school, Lev volunteered at the Freedom House of Detroit, helping with Canadian and US refugee claims. In addition to English, Lev is also fluent in Russian.

Ksenia Tchern

She also helps individuals transition from temporary to permanent status under both the federal Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program economic streams.

Ksenia also advises corporate clients on strategies and compliance-related issues. She works with clients in an array of industries including technology, construction, manufacturing, and agriculture . She also helps professionals in the health, engineering, banking, film and education sectors to obtain work authorization.

Ksenia leverages her extensive corporate and individual immigration experience to guide foreign entrepreneurs towards permanent Canadian residence. She works with foreign business investors and entrepreneurs to create a tailored path for their permanent residency as they work to establish their corporate presence in Canada.

Ksenia has volunteered as legal counsel for CARA, a pro-bono organization that provides legal assistance to women and children who are seeking asylum in the United States and are detained at immigration holding facilities.

Ksenia obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from York University. Waited almost two years for CUAET approval for my mother, contacted Lev for a writ of Mandamus and within a month we had things moving and my mom’s application got approved! We did need to perfect the Mandamus, our case was a little more complicated. My mom and I are very grateful to Lev, Alexandra and their team for a quick and professional help! I think that if things are stuck and not going anywhere, and if the application approval is very important to you, you do need to take the matter in your hands, some applications just need professional help!

Ksenia, Karyna, and Co. made a potentially nerve-wracking experience of getting an L1 Visa into an absolute breeze. Extremely knowledgeable and punctual and exactly what I needed for such a big move. Ksenia walked through every detail step-by-step and made availability to take calls/answer emails for any questions that popped up even though she has a very busy schedule! Needless to say, can’t recommend her enough. I imagine this is the case for any visa needs through this firm!

I was amazed by the service provided by Abramovich & Tchern. My permanent residence case was stuck for 3 years with IRCC by the time I approached Abramovich & Tchern. Lev Abramovich and Alexandra Shemen were supporting my family throughout the whole process. The case started moving 4 months after I approached the legal firm or 3 months after perfection (I was asked to provide medicals + proof of funds). The final approval was provided 2 months later.
